Under the leadership of the City Jail Warden, JSUPT MARIA LOURDES P. PACION, the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory (QCJMD) proudly joined the observance of the 48th National Disability Rights Week through a series of meaningful activities dedicated to the welfare and development of persons deprived of liberty (PDL) with disabilities.
The week-long observance began with the hanging of the official tarpaulin and featured various activities, including the celebration of the Holy Mass by RJM Novaliches, followed by a feeding and gift-giving activity sponsored by UST Alumni, One-Stop Shop PWD ID Application and Assistive Device Assessment and webinar on the Rights and Privileges of Persons with Disabilities in the Philippines was conducted by Person with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) of QC LGU, Webinar Information drive on the Magna Carta for Persons with Disabilities by the BJMP NCRO and individual update on Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) points conducted by Paralegal Officers. These programs are participated by all PWD-PDL to raise awareness of their rights and privileges.
The celebration also included wellness services such as free haircuts, massage, and the distribution of free breads through the Tinapay ni PiDeL. Participants also took part in skills training on paper charcoal making, Mental Health Awareness session conducted by Ms. Elsbeth Llama, film viewing, distribution of hygiene kits, feeding program sponsored by Nandas Restaurant, and Social Responsibility outreach community program for the families of PWD PDL.
Each activity was carefully planned to promote the participants' physical well-being, mental wellness, spiritual growth, and livelihood skills while reinforcing the importance of inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunities for all.
