The Quezon City Anti-Drug Abuse Advisory Council (QCADAAC) gathered personnel from both Quezon City Jail-Male and Female Dormitories for a 3-day Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Training at the QCJ-MD Conference Room from October 6 to 8, 2026.

The objective of the up-skilling is to equip jail officers with knowledge to identify early signs of substance use, deliver immediate brief interventions, and refer persons deprived of liberty (PDL) who are struggling with chemical dependency to appropriate care and treatment.

JSUPT MARIA LOURDES P PACION, City Jail Warden, took the opportunity to present Certificates of Appreciation to the QCADAAC facilitators who dedicated their time for this multi-day to develop competencies of jail personnel, including other QCADAAC staff, in the proper handling of cases involving persons who use drugs (PWUDs).

QCAADAC Action Officer Kristine V Pascua delivered the closing message for the activity from Vice Mayor Hon GIAN CARLO G SOTTO who expresses his support for the comprehensive approach of the SBIRT model as a tailor-fit for jail settings.
