The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) held the first day of Carpentry Skills Training for jail personnel at Quezon City Jail - Male Dormitory on April 27, 2026.

This series of orientations aims to equip jail officers with fundamental woodworking knowledge, including the proper preparation and selection of materials, basic joinery techniques, and the maintenance of tools and equipment. These skills will then be shared with persons deprived of liberty (PDL) to help them develop practical skills to be used to pursue legitimate livelihood .

Notable participants include JCINSP CHRISVIL O VILLAMOR, Chief HRMDU, JINSP ROGELIO G PEREZ JR, Chief Custodial Unit, and JINSP EUGENE M MATILDO, Chief Intelligence and Investigation Unit. Mr Edmar Jay O Blanco, TESDA Administrator and Welfare and Development Chief JSINSP PHILOMEL P MALAZARTE formally opened the activity. Mr Danilo M Bersaba, Carpentry Skills Trainer, was present to share his expertise and supervise.
