May 5, 2026 marks a historic leap forward as the ongoing Food and Beverage Training for persons deprived of liberty (pdl) in the pursuit of leaving No Juan Behind formally launches at Quezon City Jail - Male Dormitory.

The activity featured the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Hon QC Mayor Joy Belmonte, the Quezon City Local Government Unit, Mr Reycie C Gutierrez, General Manager of Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA, and BJMP-NCR, formalizing their shared support for the program.

Mayor BELMONTE emphasized that stigma and lack of skills are among the key barriers that limit opportunities for persons deprived of liberty. Through this program, willing pdl will be given an opportunity to develop skills and opportunities that will allow them to turn their lives around.

The hotel meeting area was also duly blessed by REV FR JSSUPT JUAN B BUBAN, marking the opening of a dedicated space for learning, growth, and new beginnings for the participants. The trainees capped the activity through a masterful dinner service for the attendees, showcasing the skills they have been developing through the program.

The event was graced by JCSUPT BABY NOEL P MONTALVO, TLPE, Regional Director, BJMPRO - NCR, PCOL JOEL ABALOS VILLANUEVA, QC - PD Deputy DD for Administration, Mr Fernando Manalang, HR Cluster Director, Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA, Ms Janete R Obiedo, Secretary, GAD Council Office, Ms Cathy Nepomuceno and Ms Charmaine Adonis of SMHCC.
