The Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) conducted its Nationwide Legal, Medical, Optical, Dental Jail Visitation, and Decongestion Program at the Quezon City Jail-Male Dormitory on May 14, 2026, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to providing legal and healthcare assistance to persons deprived of liberty (PDL) across the country since 2009.

The outreach caravan was personally led by 𝐃𝐑. 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐀 𝐕. 𝐑𝐔𝐄𝐃𝐀-𝐀𝐂𝐎𝐒𝐓𝐀, DSD, J.D., Chief Public Attorney, together with members of the PAO team, who extended legal assistance to qualified PDL and donated medicinal supplies to support the healthcare needs of individuals inside the facility.

Partner institutions also participated in the activity, with Manila Central University Hospital providing medical services, De Ocampo College of Dentistry rendering dental care, and Executive Optical (E.O.) offering optical assistance to PDL beneficiaries.

The program forms part of PAO’s continuing efforts to ensure that PDL are given access to legal representation, healthcare support, and other essential services aimed at protecting their welfare and dignity while under custody. Beyond providing immediate assistance, the initiative also contributes to jail decongestion efforts by helping address legal concerns and facilitate proper case coordination.

In recognition of their invaluable service and unwavering dedication, 𝐉𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏 𝐏𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐋 𝐏 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐙𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄, Chief, Welfare and Development Unit, presented Certificates of Appreciation to Chief Rueda-Acosta and the Public Attorney’s Office for their selfless contributions and continued support for the welfare of the PDL of QCJ-MD.

The Quezon City Jail-Male Dormitory extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Public Attorney’s Office and its partner organizations for bringing compassion, and meaningful public service beyond prison walls.
